French Drain Installation Tucson

French Drain Contractors In Tucson

A French drain is a gravel-filled trench with a perforated pipe in it, collecting water along its length and carrying it somewhere useful. The concept is simple and the execution is where they succeed or fail, because almost every failed French drain we are called to fix failed for the same two reasons.

The first is no filter fabric, or fabric installed in the wrong place. Without it, fine soil migrates into the aggregate and progressively fills the voids the drain depends on, and within a few years the trench is a buried line of dirty gravel that does nothing. Our Tucson drainage and excavation crews wrap the aggregate properly so the drain keeps working.

The second is no outlet. A drain has to discharge somewhere lower than itself, and one that simply ends becomes a long narrow reservoir sitting exactly where you did not want water. We establish the discharge point before we cut the trench, not after.

We install French drains along foundations, behind retaining walls, across wet yard areas, at the base of slopes, and around patios and hardscape that trap water. Depth, aggregate, pipe type, and fall all get set to the specific situation.

Why Choose This Service

Why French Drains Fail Without Fabric

Filter fabric is not optional. Without it, fine soil silts up the aggregate voids and the drain quietly stops working within a few years.

A French drain with no outlet is a buried reservoir. The discharge point gets established before the trench is cut.

01

Fabric Wrapped Correctly

Aggregate fully wrapped so fines cannot migrate in and silt up the drain.

02

Real Outlet

Discharge point established and connected so collected water actually leaves.

03

Consistent Fall

Trench cut to continuous grade so water moves along the line instead of standing in it.

04

Right For The Situation

Depth, aggregate, and pipe selected for a foundation, wall back, slope base, or open yard.

Process

French Drain Installation: How We Work

Three clear steps keep the site organized, the scope understandable, and the finished masonry durable.

01

Locate And Plan

We identify the wet area, the water source, and a viable discharge point, then set the drain line.

02

Excavate To Fall

The trench is cut to depth with continuous fall toward the outlet.

03

Fabric, Pipe, Aggregate

Fabric is laid, pipe bedded and set to fall, aggregate placed, then the fabric is wrapped over and covered.

Built for Tucson

French Drain Installation Built For Tucson Conditions

Tucson masonry has to handle heat, dry air, monsoon moisture, and soil movement. We plan each detail so the finished work is attractive, stable, and practical for Arizona conditions.

The goal is a clean scope before construction starts: the right material, the right repair method, and a clear explanation of how the work will hold up over time.

  • Climate-ready materials selected for Tucson heat and monsoon exposure
  • Clear estimates before masonry, foundation, or stucco work begins
  • Residential and commercial sites handled with tidy staging
  • Finished work reviewed for strength, appearance, and durability

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear Answers Before Work Starts

Practical answers for timing, matching, process, cost, and long-term performance.

How deep should a French drain be?

Deep enough to intercept the water causing the problem and to maintain fall to the outlet. Foundation and wall drains typically sit deeper than a general yard drain.

Do French drains need fabric?

Yes. It is the single most important detail. Without fabric, fines wash into the aggregate and the drain silts up and stops working.

Where does the water go?

To a discharge point lower than the drain, such as the street, a designated drainage area, or daylight on a slope. A drain without an outlet does not work.

Can a French drain fix water against my foundation?

Often it is a major part of the fix, alongside correcting the surface grade. We look at both rather than installing a drain and leaving the grading wrong.

How long do French drains last?

Properly built with fabric and a real outlet, decades. Built without fabric, they commonly silt up within a few years, which is why we get called to replace them.
